about

Though the record touches on real issues of real people, some of the tracks off the EP are fictions with roots in reality. The second song and title track, “Jungle”, is one such song. A metaphor for a mind turned against itself, “Jungle” is vivid in its lyricism as it pulls the listener further along in the story. Trapped within their own head, the subject of the song is overcome by anxiety and depression as they try desperately to find the key to normalcy. With a bristling chorus and a lonely, melodic verse, “Jungle” is the all encompassing feeling of anxiety.

lyrics

Sense impending darkness
mind is caving in
I feel the nausea blooming
The shivers sinking in

Settled in an armchair
While my mind is war
Why can’t I be normal
Or get out of my head

Searching the jungle
Hoping to hear the sound

That sound it will lead me
If only I could lead myself

I remember dreaming
Life was so surreal
The fire started burning
And it all came crashing down

Searching the jungle
Hoping to hear the sound

That sound it will lead me
If only I could lead myself

The jungle
It takes what it wants

Running to the echo
I’ve exposed the sound
All this time, I’ve dreamed it
Not honest with myself
If I knew for certain
Where I should go
Maybe I could get there
But not on my own

Searching the jungle
Hoping to hear the sound

That sound it will lead me
If only I could lead myself

The Jungle has crushed me
All that I do is explore

With the state of my mind
I don’t wanna live anymore

The jungle
It takes what it wants
